Studio E Architects Appointed for a New School in Bangladesh

Exciting times lie ahead as Studio E Architects has been commissioned by the Bangladesh based STS Group to design a new Delhi Public School on a riverside site in Purbachal, Dhaka.

Just under 6000 Bangladeshi pupils, from Kindergarten to Sixth Form, are to be provided with a state of the art, 35,000m2 facility.  Designs have commenced on an integrated, clustered learning community – schools within schools with large hub spaces and playgrounds “in the sky.”

The practice is working with Max Fordham to develop environmental strategies and deal with the climate and site related challenges.

A cluster of mature plane trees, a feature of the site, provides a leafy context for this colourful yellow and blue addition.

The designs include a foyer that doubles as a new main school entrance and the facilities combine with an existing dining hall to create an academic courtyard – a new social heart for the school.

SEA’s first tower re-clad is complete. Grenfell Tower has an entirely new envelope which, together with a total heating overhaul, has given this 60’s concrete period piece a new energy efficient lease of life. The transformation has re-invented the building’s entrance and entirely re-organised communal facilities that included Dale Youth Amateur Boxing Club, Grenfell Nursery and a children’s playground. In the process nine new “hidden homes” have been created.
