A new 1140 place mixed Academy in Hackney currently at the design stage. The tight urban site presents a range of difficult problems that include changes in level, sensitive proximity to a Grade II listed property and conservation area, bisection by a pedestrian thoroughfare, clusters of mature trees, and noise pollution generated by a busy high street. The dynamic design sets out to underpin the sponsors’ educational vision to provide a new centre of learning excellence with a Business and Enterprise specialism at the heart of a deserving community. A striking contemporary building will give expression to these aspirations. Careful value engineering will ensure that tight budgets are respected and that value for money is achieved. As with all our projects, a strong sustainable approach has been established and will be taken forward as the project progresses.
