Environmental Policy

Studio E Architects was founded in 1994 with the specific purpose of developing the theory and practice of energy efficient and environmentally sound architecture. Our objective was, and remains, to marry elegant and stimulating design to measures that protect our environment and enhance our welfare. In pursuit of these principals Studio E works closely with clients, building occupiers, consultants and contractors to ensure that they are working to common sustainable goals, and that their implications are fully understood in terms of life style, welfare and finance. We set out to minimise energy consumption, resource depletion and environmental depredation in all our projects. We also take every opportunity to introduce site and building integrated renewable energy system into them.

Studio E Architects supports environmental management and recognises that small / medium businesses can contribute to appropriate environmental schemes very effectively. We set an example for the implementation of sustainable measures, so far as we are able within tenanted accommodation, in the manner and processes of operating our own office.

We aim to follow the Government's Environment and Greener Living policy frameworks for recycling and waste management.

Whilst conforming to all existing environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice, we regard these as setting the minimum standards of performance and will strive to do more.

Studio E is committed to minimising the impact of its operations on the environment by means of a programme of continuous improvement. We aim to help every member of Studio E Architects staff to understand and to implement the relevant aspects of our Environmental Policy in their day-to-day work through the regular communication of objectives, action plans and achievements.

Studio E Architects has only a very small office presence and our people typically work in our office located in Hammersmith, London. Studio E Architects achieved ISO 14001 on 11th of June 2008.

Studio E Architects' Internal Operations

Studio E Architects' office operations are managed to minimise environmental impact where possible. Energy consumption and the use of consumables are monitored. We aim to minimise pollution and waste and to recycle wherever possible, including packaging, paper and printer cartridges. These activities are promoted to office workers and visitors by the presence of recycling bins and by frequent sending of e-mails in order to remind all members of staff of our environmental measures.

As part of our annual business review processes, our office operations are also reviewed so that we can continuously improve our environmental performance and maintain alignment with our key clients. Studio E Architects encourages travel by public transport wherever practicable, thus minimising the need for use of transport facilities. Any necessary business travel is always undertaken in line with our clients' policies to avoid unnecessary adverse environmental impacts.

Any environmental aspects of the work and the proposed solutions are included as part of our final client satisfaction survey and any final report we may produce.
