As part of its Prudential Schools Programme, Inverclyde Council is amalgamating two secondary schools into one 1100-pupil building on a brownfield site in Greenock, previously occupied by public access sports pitches. The brief seeks to involve the local community in the out of hours use of the new buildings and sporting facilities. The design incorporates agreed strategies for natural daylight and ventilation to all occupied areas, whilst achieving acoustic isolation from the busy road and residential infrastructure and the ability to withstand the sometimes extreme weather conditions.
