The 1500m2 building will house the Lahore Calligraphic Arts Institute and facilities for a range of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts. The accomodation includes an exhibition gallery, lecture theatre, library, shop, cafe, workshops, teaching spaces and artists residences. The design is based on an ordering geometry derived from the arabic script.
It has no air conditioning but is cooled by an innovative passive downright evaporative cooling system.
