The Optimum Sports Hall Project, commissioned by Sport England, entailed developing and fully designing a cost effective, generic range of indoor sports facilities for school and local authority use based on a four-court badminton hall. The three basic designs, which range in size, challenge alternative bespoke solutions in terms of quality, cost and construction time. A prototyping phase was completed with the construction of St Mary's College Sports Centre in Hull, Robert Clack School Sports Centre in Dagenham and Fakenham Community Sports Hall. Feedback from these projects is being used to further refine the designs, including additional Sports Halls at Langdon School and another in a school in Dagenham.
