Andrzej Kuszell DipArch RIBA
Director
Andrzej Kuszell is a founding director of Studio E Architects. His previous experience ranged from general feasibility studies and development strategies through to a broad spectrum of completed projects covering education, leisure, residential and such major developments as the Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts in Liverpool and a multi-million research complex for the Ministry of Defence. He is an acknowledged expert and innovator in both educational and leisure architecture. He has led a number of award winning projects for Studio E Architects, most notably the Swimming Pool and Girls’ Boarding Houses at Haileybury College as well as the redevelopment of Emslie Horniman Pleasance. He was also the director responsible for the Sport England Optimum Sports Halls and the American Community School Sports Centre. Recently completed projects under his direction include the £23.5 million City of London Academy (Southwark) for the City of London, which won the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award in 2006, and Larmenier and Sacred Heart Primary School in Hammersmith, which has generated much media coverage for its sustainable and collaborative design approach. His belief in placing the client at the heart of the process has broken new ground in the engagement of young people in education projects. Current work includes a further Academy in Hackney, with processes involving collaboration with the Sorrell Foundation and Junior Open House.
David Lloyd Jones AADipl RIBA FRSA

David Lloyd Jones is a founding director of Studio E Architects. His previous experience ranged from research and development into housing and university standards to commercial centre city development. In the early 80s he was responsible for the design of the seminal energy conscious NFU Mutual and Avon Insurance Group’s Head Office at Stratford upon Avon. He is an acknowledged expert and innovator in energy conscious and sustainable architecture. He has led a succession of leading edge sustainable projects including the Solar Office, Doxford International, innumerable government sponsored R&D projects, Beaufort Court the first commercial zero-emissions building in the world and, most recently, science, sports and performing arts facilities at Townley Grammar School. Believing that there should be no distinction between environmentally sound architecture and architecture of the highest quality he has been responsible for a number of important projects in cultural, educational and institutional sectors including the much acclaimed and award winning Grange Park Opera House. Current projects include extensions to Bacon’s City Technology College, a pan-European high-insulating R&D window project, a zero carbon residential development and a new office development in Olympia. He is a member of the RIBA Sustainable Futures Forum and an Education Review Panel Member of CABE. His book, Architecture and the Environment, was published by Laurence King Publishing in 1998 and is available in six languages.
Garry Stewart BSc BArch RIBA

Since joining in 1997, Garry has been the Project Architect on a series of key Studio E projects which include the Solar Office, Haileybury Girls Boarding Houses and the American Community School’s sports complex. On becoming a Director in 2000 he has been responsible for securing and delivering projects in a variety of diverse sectors and clients. Projects include primary and secondary schools, sports and leisure facilities, swimming pools, offices, and energy and waste related projects.
Alan Addison BA DipArch RIBA

Alan joined Studio E Architects in 2001 to become senior architect overseeing two of Studio E’s high profile projects, the Beaufort Court Zero Emissions Building and the Grange Park Opera House. Both projects went on to receive RIBA Awards in 2004. In 2002 he was made associate, taking responsibility for project resourcing and costing as well as his projects. More recently he has worked on education projects including Larmenier and Sacred Heart Primary School and, taking a co-ordinating role, the City of London Academy in Southwark, which was completed in summer 2005. He is particularly experienced in client consultation, leading multi-disciplinary design teams and contract administration. His wide ranging experience before joining Studio E included work in the education, leisure, commercial and residential sectors. He is currently the project associate for both the new Academy as well as Berger Primary School in Hackney.
Bruce Sounes BArch PG Dip
Associate
Bruce has been with Studio E since 2000 and was made Associate in 2005. Projects he has worked on include the American Community School leisure centre, the Bermondsey City Academy, Burgess Park Football Pavilion, Neville Holt opera, Inverclyde Secondary School and, most recently, as Associate on the two Watford Leisure Centres.
