A flagship development providing accommodation for 120 girls and supporting teaching and administrative staff in a highly sensitive ‘green belt’ location, adjoining Grade II listed buildings and within a Repton designed landscape. A core element of the brief was the need to create an environment where the girls would feel comfortable and secure in a previously male exclusive environment.
The sloping site, the listed woodland setting and a Repton inspired pond became integral and critical components of the scheme. Students commented about “living in the treetops”.
You have given us buildings of which we are really proud…Your work is perhaps the most striking symbol of a prospering school. Stuart Westley, The Master, Haileybury College
