The Performing and Visual Arts Centre at Townley Grammar School is part of the major extention of the school carried out by Studio E (see projects: education). The facilities include a 200 seat multi-purpose performance space with change rooms, height, projection and secondary suite and art galleries and are designed to meet the aspirations of the school's recently acquired Centre of Excellence status for performing and visual arts. Sustainable design principles are integral to the design with natural light and ventilation in classrooms, a ground coupled cooling system using a raft of linked pipes below the performing arts studio and passivent natural ventilation in the sports hall.
