Townley Grammar School for Girls Extension

This building complex is a major extension to the existing campus at Townley Grammar School for Girls. It provides new performing arts, sports, computer and science facilities for the growing school intake which was predicted to rise to 1430 students in 2006-07. The striking design of the new addition reflects the recently acquired Centre of Excellence status for the Performing and Visual Arts in 2004. Sustainable design principles are integral to the design with natural light and ventilation in classrooms, a ground coupled cooling system using a raft of linked pipes below the performing arts studio and passivent natural ventilation in the sports hall. Works were carried out without interruption to the normal functions of the school.
